A JOURNEY FROM MOUNTAINS TO LIVING CULTURE
Experience the Destination Before You Sell It
NorthEast Slovakia Travel invites selected travel professionals from Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark to discover a five-day journey through Northeast Slovakia. The programme takes participants through two national parks – the High Tatras, Slovakia’s oldest national park, and Pieniny National Park. From mountain quiet and a private treetop experience, the route leads through Goral / Highlander culture and the UNESCO heritage of Spiš to personal encounters in the Pieniny. Participants will experience hotels, food, local hosts and activities that can become distinctive, bookable programmes for their clients.
WHY NORTHEAST SLOVAKIA?
Mountains, Heritage and People in One Journey
Begin your journey in the mountains with a stay at a distinctive wellness mountain hotel, where the programme opens with a special Slavic-themed evening. The following morning, enjoy a private visit above the forest canopy, with panoramic views from a 40-metre observation tower, followed by a lively introduction to the traditions of the local highland community. Continue to an alpine lake, discover the region’s winter sports offer and end the day with refined mountain dining and wellness.
The journey then moves into medieval Europe: a castle complex and a historic town protected by UNESCO, where a 16th-century church houses the world’s tallest wooden Gothic altar.
The final days slow down beside a mountain river. Guests meet local people through crafts, food, music and stories, and experience how personal encounters can turn a scenic route into a memorable journey.
Stay in Bachledka and at Štrbské Pleso, inspect mountain hotels and see how winter activities, dining and wellness fit into a group programme.
Enjoy a private Treetop Walk, inspect ski facilities and meet local hosts for a live Goral welcome in Ždiar.
Explore a castle, UNESCO-listed historic towns, centuries-old streets, sacred art and one of the region’s remarkable wooden churches.
Experience a five-course wine-paired dinner, a tailored evening at a boutique hotel, and a Slavic dinner feast prepared with local hosts in a scenic river valley.
Stay in a historic monastery iver night, discover centuries-old herbal traditions, travel through a scenic river valley by horse-drawn carriage and spend an evening sharing food, music and stories with local hosts.
Evaluate accommodation, experiences and transfers as building blocks for a multi-day itinerary. Identify what best fits your portfolio and shape it into a distinctive programme for your market.

Arrival at Kraków International Airport (KRK), followed by a private transfer to the mountains and check-in at Grandhotel ****.
Set directly in the valley beside the cable car, the four-star hotel stands out for its Goral / Highlander-inspired interiors, themed rooms and an extensive wellness area centred around a saltwater pool and mountain views.
In the evening, the group will experience a special Slavic-style dinner with live music, bringing together local flavours, hospitality and the atmosphere of the mountain region.
The first day introduces a product that combines accommodation, wellness, gastronomy and local culture in one mountain resort setting.
Key points:
The day begins high above the forest on a treetop route, culminating in a 32-metre observation tower with wide views across the surrounding mountain landscape. The group will experience the attraction privately and also see how the wider mountain resort works as a winter tourism product, from ski slopes to family attractions.
The programme then shifts from landscape to living culture. A meeting with the local highland community introduces the distinctive Highlander traditions of the region through music, customs and personal storytelling, giving tour operators a more authentic product than a standard sightseeing stop.
Later, the journey continues to one of Slovakia’s best-known alpine resort area, centred around a mountain lake beneath the peaks of the High Tatras. The visit combines a traditional lunch at lake and an introduction to the area’s winter-sports infrastructure.
Accommodation is provided in a secluded four-star wellness hotel surrounded by pine forest, offering a quieter, more intimate mountain base for the night.
The evening adds a contrasting premium product: a five-course wine-paired dinner followed by access to what the hotel itself describes as the largest hotel wellness centre in Slovakia. Set beneath one of the country’s most recognisable mountain peaks, the complex combines extensive water and sauna facilities with a strong resort atmosphere.
Key points:
The journey continues to a UNESCO-listed historic town, where centuries-old streets lead to a Gothic basilica housing the world’s tallest wooden Gothic altar, an extraordinary masterpiece carved almost entirely from wood. The visit is followed by a period-style lunch that extends the heritage experience beyond sightseeing.
In the afternoon, the programme combines a historic castle with a UNESCO-listed wooden church, showcasing two very different chapters of the region’s architectural and religious heritage.
The day concludes in a boutique hotel with a tailored fine-dining evening, combining elegant service, local flavours and an intimate setting that can be adapted for premium groups and special-interest clients.
Key points:
The day begins with a stay in a historic monastery, where guests discover centuries-old traditions connected with herbs, tea, craftsmanship and monastic life.
The programme then moves into a scenic river valley by horse-drawn carriage, combining landscape with stories of local highlander culture and the region’s long rafting tradition.
The strongest experience comes in the evening, when the group meets local hosts for a hands-on introduction to regional food traditions. Guests will prepare cheese and sausages together, taste traditional dishes, listen to live music and share the evening around the table in an informal local setting.
The night is spent in the monastery, giving the day a distinctive ending and adding another unusual accommodation product to the famtrip.
Key points:
The final morning is intentionally relaxed, with breakfast in the monastery and time to enjoy the atmosphere of the river valley before departure.
Guests can take an easy walk along the river, cross the pedestrian bridge to the Polish side and experience the border landscape at a slower pace.
A final lunch in a traditional rustic restaurant, serving regional dishes such as handmade pirohy and other Slovak specialities, brings the famtrip to a warm and authentic close before the transfer to the airport.
